I spent the afternoon with Justine and Donald on 17 April. Their engagement portraits were a mix of casual and formal. Their wedding in September is at Sittella Winery, one of my favourite venues, and shortly after they will be going to Singapore to celebrate there as well. I am putting together an engagement album for these two so that it will be ready in time to take with them to Singapore, as well as a slideshow of both the engagement portraits and the wedding.
I must say, it was fantastic to spend hours photographing location portraits – you just don’t have the time on a wedding day to go to all the places we did. It really allowed me the opportunity to not only get to know Justine and Donald rather well (turns out they are pretty hilarious!) but also allowed me to experiment and try things I wouldn’t normally have chance to do.
I am seriously considering adding an extended engagement session in my top collection as well as adding it a la carte as an option. Also, for those who are traditional and don’t want their hubby-to-be to see the dress before the big day, adding a ‘day after session’ in full wedding regalia. This kind of session is quite popular in the US already. This day after session would be particularly useful if you only leave a short amount of time between the ceremony and reception as this cuts into any location portrait time.
