Rusty and Jo, after many years together, decided to get married…a little differently! It was very intimate. In fact it was just the two of them celebrating their day together. The lovely Esther Bliss was the celebrant and her husband Ken and their superb driver, Heinz, were the witnesses!
After the bridal preparation at The Sheraton Hotel Perth, Jo and Rusty had a ‘first look’ within the hotel lobby. Rusty waited anxiously for his bride to appear and seemed to immediately relax when she came near.
The ceremony was held on the grounds at Cottesloe Civic Centre. Location portraits were around the Civic Centre and a quick trip down to the beach near the Indiana Teahouse. It was of course, the first hot day of the season, and a gazillion people had decided to lie on the beach. The bride and groom received a LOT of attention!
More portraits were taken at Matilda Bay foreshore as the sun set and dusk settled in and I left Jo and Rusty to their dinner at the restaurant.
The day was all about these two having a fantastic day together and I was along for the ride. A quick note to brides to be: give your photographer TIME to capture your newlywed portraits. At least an hour and a half and frankly, I would be ecstatic with 3 hours if a few different locations are involved. It’s also a chance to just be with each other and relax before the reception festivities!
To Jo and Rusty: Thank you for allowing me to share in your day, for trusting me and giving me the time to capture everything. Thank you for the passion, laughter, intimacy, romance, giggles and playfulness that you expressed in front of the camera. I feel all of that has come across in the pictures :)

Jo and Rusty walked together ‘down the aisle’ (ie the grounds of the Civic Centre) to this beautiful Peter Gabriel song. I think it fits their non-traditional wedding just perfectly!
The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It’s full of charts and facts and figures and instructions for dancing
But I
I love it when you read to me
And you
You can read me anything
The book of love has music in it
In fact that’s where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything
The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It’s full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things we’re all too young to know
But I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings
And I
I love it when you give me things
And you
You ought to give me wedding rings

ah oui, le passion!

I love the way Rusty is looking at Jo in this one...awww!

Attempting a bridal portrait, these kiddlywinks wanted to be part of the picture so bad ;)
